KARACHI: Ali Zaryab's unbeaten double century powered Lahore Whites to a commanding position in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
They secured a 163-run first-innings lead over Sialkot on the third day of the third triangular stage fixture at the National Bank Stadium.
At the close of play, Lahore Whites were 628 for nine after 148 overs, having built a significant advantage over Sialkot, who had posted 465 in their first innings.
Lahore Whites resumed on Day 3 at 240 for two in 58.2 overs, with Zaryab continuing his fine form from Saturday.
The left-handed opening batter extended his innings to an impressive 202* off 357 balls, striking 23 boundaries in the process. This marks his second first-class double century.
Obaid Shahid also played a crucial role in extending Lahore Whites' total, registering a vital knock of 121 off 154 balls.
Shahid's knock featured 16 fours, and together with Zaryab, they formed a resilient partnership that frustrated the Sialkot bowlers for extended periods.
Tayyab Tahir was another key contributor, making 47 off 61 balls, including eight boundaries, before being dismissed.
For Sialkot, the standout bowler was Shahzaib Bhatti, who claimed four wickets for 232 runs in 41 overs, while captain Amad Butt also added two wickets to his tally, finishing with 2-109 from 34 overs.
Earlier, in Sialkot’s first innings, they had been bowled out for 465 in 119.3 overs.
Azan Awais top-scored with a stellar 168, supported by Ashir Mehmood’s 101 and Mohsin Riaz’s 51.
Lahore Whites' Mohammad Waheed claimed 5-124, and Hikmatullah took 3-83 in a disciplined bowling performance.
